Science Experiments and Art Projects

Okay, so we recovered from the crazy weekend and got back to work! Hannah is in an American Girl Club and we went to the first meeting of the year this morning. The girls watched the Samantha movie while the mom's planned out the year. It looks like it's going to be a fun year! The boys spent time with Grandma and my brother's little boy since I figured that would be more fun than hanging out with a bunch of little girls.

After lunch we had fun doing some projects for science and art. We are doing an experiment with celery to show how water and minerals travel through the plant and keep it alive. There are three different stalks of celery in the experiment. One is sitting in an empty cup (no water). One is sitting in water and the other we pulled all the xylem (the tubes that carry water to the rest of the plant) out and it is also sitting in water. We will report on the results tomorrow.

We did an art project about all the different people around the world by making "paper dolls" that they colored. This project sounds easier than it was-at least it did to me. How hard can folding and cutting some newspaper be? Well, for me it wasn't easy! I guess I kept cutting in the wrong spot and ended up with lots of seperate people that Jacob enjoyed playing with. We finally got their hands and feet to stay connected!
